! NEW PUBLICATION ON LANDSCAPE ECOLOGY AVAILABLE !

From July 12 to 16 2009 Salzburg hosted the European IALE Conference 2009. The title of the conference was “Transformations of European Landscapes”.

Already at the conference the organisers could present the proceedings of more than 600 pages in English language with extended abstracts of the participants edited by J. Breuste (Austria), M. Kozová (Slovakia) and M. Finka (Slovakia)

The publication presents the most recent researches in European landscape ecology in the more than 130 lectures (in 8 symposia and 14 workshops) and 100 poster presentations.

The contributions from all European countries discuss the following topics:  

Current challenges for landscape ecology and the management of landscapes Change of cultural landscapes Multifunctionality of landscapes Sustainable landscape development Landscape planning Ecosystem services Modern methods of landscape analysis Urban landscapes Climate changes Landscape functions Cooperative forms of planning Current aspects of landscape change

Furthermore the proceedings include the introduction lectures of the Honorary President of the conference and founder of landscape ecology Zev Naveh (Israel) and the one of Ervin Laszlo (Italy) as well as the keynote-speeches of Almo Farina (Italy) and Thomas Elmqvist (Sweden).

The book is available for the price of 20€ plus mailing expenses at the University of Salzburg.
